Rachel and I are getting married!!!

Rachel and I right after she said yes.

That's right! Yesterday I asked Rachel to marry me and she said yes! We're spending the weekend in Grand Marais, which is just an amazing place. I couldn't be happier with our trip so far. Anyway, I'll have a lot of pics and stuff to post when we're back in town. Until then, later.

...and posted on Monday...

We drove up to Grand Marais on Friday morning. We took our time and stopped in a couple places that caught our eye...

Rachel and I sitting on the North Shore.

We got to our hotel in the late afternoon. I had arranged to have flowers and champagne waiting in our room, which Rachel liked a lot. We were going to meet up with Rachel's friends Leah and Heath for dinner at 7:00, so we had a little time to look around town...

This strange door in between two buildings downtown.

We had dinner at The Crooked Spoon Cafe. I had Kangaroo tenderloin! Dinner was very nice. Afterwards we went for drinks at a bar called The Raven, which had a pirate theme!

There was a place a half-block from our hotel called World's Best Donuts. We found out it opened at 7:00am. Rachel woke me up on Saturday at 6:50am to go...

Rachel enjoying her morning doughnut.

After breakfast we went for a hike. First we tried a trail called Pincushion, but we gave up on that one. We drove up The Gunflint Trail and after not seeing anything of promise we gave up and pulled into a little parking lot to turn around. Then we noticed that it was a trail head and decided to try it out.

We hiked up the trail, which was called the Northern Light Trail, and right as we were about to give up on finding a good view, we finally found one. That's where I asked her to marry me and she said yes. :)

After we got back to town we walked around a bit more, but mostly just took it easy. For dinner we opened an expensive bottle of wine and had Sven & Ole's pizza in our hotel room.

Sunday we went hiking in the morning again, after doughnuts of course. This time we went to Honeymoon Bluff. It was a little rainy, but fun and beautiful anyway...

The view from Honeymoon Bluff.

We also went on a trail to see Moose, but we never saw anything! We spent the rest of Sunday tooling around town...

We had an amazing dinner at Chez Jude. Absolutely amazing food.

On Monday we woke up and grudgingly headed home. On the way we stopped at Temperance River...

We also stopped at the Split Rock Lighthouse...

That was our trip. Overall I couldn't possibly have asked for a more perfect weekend. The town was beautiful, the food was amazing, the scenery was breathtaking. Hopefully Rachel and I can get up there many more times - married next time. ;)

Oh, and in case anyone is wondering what Rachel's engagement ring looks like, take a look.

I just got back from Opening of Fishing weekend. Rachel spent the weekend in Dnever. Chewie spent the weekend with Ginny. Here are the pics...

Some random guy on the fishing pier in Cross Lake caught this.
