My Journal - January 2006

2006-01-01
Happy New Year! It's now officially 2006 and I still haven't seen a flying car. I know I complain about this every year, but seriously, what the hell are our scientists working on? Can't we slow down our mobile phone R&D a little to make room for some cooler stuff?

Anyway, here's some pics from Christmas...

Me and Carrie on Christmas Eve.

My cousin Ali and my sister Carrie.

My cousin Matt.

My cousin Eric.

For some reason Chewie has decided that walking all the way downstairs just to see what's going on is too much work. So, now she just hangs out about mid-way up on the stairs and just looks through the railing...

For New Years Eve, Rachel and I stayed in. We went to Byerly's and got two live lobsters. The dog thought they were pretty strange...

...but we thought they were delicious...

It's now officially been nine days since I've been to or heard from The Office! It's really nice to have all this time off, but I feel a little off too. I know that probably doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but work evens me out a little bit. I'd be a mess if I didn't have a job. I've got tomorrow off and then I'll be back to work on Tuesday. I think tomorrow I'll be really busy trying to finish off my TODO list.

We've had a lot of snow the last month or so. I bet there's at least 8 inches on the ground right now and every day has been above freezing for the past week! It's been really nice. The perfect winter, if you ask me. Actually, it reminds me a lot of when I lived in Illinois.

Christmas was really nice. I saw almost my entire extended family. We had tons of great food and good gifts, of course. I'm not going to go over the entire list of goodies, but I got a Kitchen Aid 600 Stand Mixer from Rachel. I also got a cool buffer from Katelyn and some novels from Carrie. Rachel's brother Greg got us a cooking class, which will be a lot of fun. Rachel's parents got me a new messanger bag for work which is great because my current bag is completely busted. My parents got me new jeans, tools, kitchen stuff, a really huge Italian cookbook and a bunch of other things. There's more, but I don't have the energy to go through it all. :)

Well, that's all I've got for now. Here's to a good 2005 and an even better 2006!
