My Journal - May 2005

2005-05-17
Well, I think everything has pretty much quieted down for at least a week. Last weekend I went to Andrea and Tom's wedding, which was fun. The cerimony was less than 8 minutes long, which was great! I didn't stay for the whole reception, but I had fun while I was there.

This week is my week to shine at work. I'm already ahead of where I'd hoped I'd be and if I can just stay focused for a few more days I'll be golden. Friday night I'm going to see Katelyn's concert. Saturday night I'm going to the official Little & Company bowling party with Rachel. That's it!!!

Now that we're down to 10 days before jumping on a plane to Europe, I'm going to have to start getting all that in order. I've got to pick up some camera supplies and plug converters and stuff like that. I'm not going to pack until the day or so before we leave, but I'll need to plan out what exactly I'm bringing. The whole trip is 14 days, so I'm thinking there is no way I'll be able to pack enough clothes. Do people do laundry on a trip like this? I just about have to because I don't even think I own 14 pairs of socks and how can you fit 14 shirts into a suitcase? Does anyone out there know how this works? Either way, I'm getting excited.

Well, that's it for me tonight. Later.

I finally whipped out the camera(s) and took a few pics. Here you go...

My Mom on Mother's Day.

Grandma Hannay and Carrie on Mother's Day.

Me and Rachel at the Monster's of Destruction.

The monster trucks!

My new couch in my new livingroom.

A lot has been going on lately, but I just don't have energy to write any of it down. Maybe tomorrow.

It's freaking May already! Can you believe that. Damn. Worst part is it snowed this morning. I can't remember the last time it's snowed this late in the spring. I guess I don't feel so bad about not having taken off my winter tires yet this season. :)

So I can't believe I'm going to do this again, but I have no pics to post! Sad, but I still haven't taken a single picture since the move. I guess I've been busy unpacking and all. That's really just excuses though, because I'm sure they're has been a little time in there somewhere. Either way, I'm sure I'll get some taken soon. Speaking of, I ordered seven 8 x 10's from Shutterfly the other day and they came in today. They turned out absolutely perfectly. I figured out the trick is to always use an sRGB color profile in the JPEG and turn off their little exposure-fixer thing. Anyway, I'm going to put these up in my place once I can get some frames for them.

So Bish got Coppermine running on Stewie. You can take a look at it here. He's put a bunch of shots up. I haven't yet, but I'm sure I'll have some up there soon.

So, there's been some crazy news lately. I'm sure most of you have seen this, but this is just plain scary and a little sad:

Fla. Sets Harsher Penalties for Molesters
"Spurred by the killing of a 9-year-old girl, Gov. Jeb Bush on Monday signed a law imposing tougher penalties on child molesters and requiring many of those released from prison to wear satellite tracking devices for the rest of their lives."

I'm certainly not pro-sex-abusers, but this law is a violation of human rights in more ways than I can express. Damn, what's going on lately? Does anyone else think the US is going down the crapper?

To stay on the scary news theme, check this out:

The Pseudoscience of Intelligent Design
The Dover, Pennsylvania school board recently adopted a policy requiring that high school science teachers teaching evolution tell their students that evolutionary theory, a theory that has been shown to explain the origins of life time and time again, is flawed, and that intelligent design is a valid alternative.

Ok, this is a wake up call for everyone out there: EVOLUTION IS REAL! Yes, that's right. I said it. Suck it up, people. A few billion years ago we were all just one-celled organisms swimming around in the primordial ooze. I still can't believe this is happing in the 21st century. Someone get these school board members a freaking science book before they call the theory of relativity a sham too!

Ok, I'm obviously in a bad mood, so I'm off to bed.
