My Journal - September 2004
2004-09-27
On Saturday, Gortho, Katelyn, and I helped Niccole move. It was really not bad. I got to drive her dad's big old rusty red Ford F150, which I love. I bought an AC/DC disc just for the occation! Here's some pics:
Niccole, Gortho, and The Truck.
Katelyn going gangsta.
Gortho is too strong to put his arms down. I didn't watch the Vikings game on Sunday. No, not because of God. I went to a little to-do for my Grandma's birthday. Here's the pics:
Grandma and Grandpa Hannay. Yeah, they're completely sappy all the time.
Mom and Katelyn.
The birthday girl!
Mom and my uncle Mike.
Family everywhere!
Artsy shot of Carrie. I guess that's it. Can you believe this is the last week of September! Damn, this year is flying by. Later.

Rachel and I on the way up to the cabin. Yes, this was taken at 80 MPH.
Me driving with my game-face on.
Rachel out on the lake.
My attempt at an 'artsy' shot of the shore.
Yeah, it's the lake! It's supposed to be picturesque!
Someone said something really, really funny.
The requisite sunset shot. Ok, everyone now: ooohhh ... aaahhh. I think that's all I'm going to put up tonight. There are a ton more that are really good, but I've only got so much room. So, what else? Well, I finally got a cool fix for a rebates ticket that's been open. I tuned a function that took more than 4 hours down to about 0.25 seconds. Not bad. I don't really have anything else on my plate for the week that sounds too interesting, so hopefully I get caught up in something. Well, I should go. Later.

So here's the news story for the day. It's pretty good, but the last sentence makes it a keeper. Enjoy.
2004-09-16
This week has been pretty quiet. I've been trying to catch up on my infamous To-do list. Now I'm down to the handfull of things I really, really don't want to do. Work has been really frustrating lately. I assume it's because of my quiting smoking or personal stuff or both, but I'm having one hell of a time concentrating on problems. That's very bad because solving problems is basically my entire job. Hopefully with a little sleep and some relaxation I can get back into the swing of things. If not I may have to do something drastic. :)
The sky from my deck. I've got a pretty full weekend coming up. Friday is open, I guess, which is good cause I'm pretty wiped from this week. Maybe I'll watch a movie or get stupid drunk or both. Saturday Rachel and I are going up to the lake for this family thing. That'll be fun, I hope. Rachel picked up this sweet Holga camera that takes these really strange pics. It's medium format, which I've never used before. I'm pretty pumped to try it out. Sunday is, of course, the sabath, so I'll be celebrating with a full day of football! Go Vikes! So that's about it. Thank god. I'm about ready to fall asleap on my keyboard. I'm going to try having breakfast tomorrow. It's been years. My car rules! Oh yeah, and one more thing. This quiting smoking thing is not as easy as it looks, SO BACK OFF!!! That's not directed at any one person, I just wanted to be angry for a second. I'm over it now. :) Here is your news story for the day. Enjoy.

I finally got a some pics with Rachel and I. Here are a few:
Me and Rachel.
Us again ... relaxing.
Rachel having this super-good dessert thing. I can't remember what it's called. :) Most of these pics are from this last weekend. We spent a lot of the time with her sister-in-law and her (sister-in-law's) brother. Both of them are from Germany, so it was cool to talk to them and get another perspective on the world. I'm a pretty big fan of both of them. So, what else? Well, I've mostly quit smoking. I'm doing the patch thing again, which seems to be working well. I'm still having a couple smokes a day, but that's a lot better than 20! I'm thinking I'll be totally off them soon. In the mean time, it's nice to get back some lung power and my sense of smell and taste. This weekend I picked up 8 tickets to see the Deftones! I'm pretty excited because I haven't see a good concert in a while and it's in a pretty small club. Fun Kristan and 5K are pretty excited too. It should be really good. Anyway, I should get to bed. I've been getting into work pretty late for the last few weeks. That's got to stop! But before I go, here's your daily "Good for You, Kid" news article.

So, what's been going on? Well, a lot, I guess. The coolest thing is that I started dating this girl named Rachel about a month ago. She's incredibly sweet and beautiful and cool and funny. I'm really quite taken with her. No pics to put up yet, sorry. Last weekend I spent hours and hours with the fam painting a big portion of my rent's house. It was exhausting, but the girls and I had fun. Anyway, here's a couple pics:
Carrie painting some details.
I did most of the rolling.
Carrie is the only one not afraid of heights. :)
Mom and I trying to be funny.
The requisite pic of Katelyn in a stupid pose.
The three of us finally done.
The dining room, finished.
The living room, finished. Another pretty cool thing is there's a new addition to the family. Last week Bob and Kenna bought an incredibly cute little dog named Ginny. I'll probably end up with a million pics of her, so here's a good start:
Cute?
I mean, please...
And a hunter?
I finally get a little lovin' too (that's my hand). Oh, and Gortho and I finally got a new table for our deck. And, you guessed it, there's a pic:
This is far nicer than our last one. Ok, enough pics? Anyway, I've got more to do tonight, so that's it. Later. Go to entries for August. |
